We Must Remember

Do you remember your birth?
The rush of breath
Invasive light
Life’s miracle
All snuggled tight

Do you remember first steps?
Standing up
On this crazy Earth
Realizing you can walk
Then run…

Do you remember your first drive?
The freedom of the wheel
Almost flying
The feeling of speed
You’re in charge

Do you remember learning about the moon?
That stars were suns
Looking up, feeling so small
In awe of it all

Do you remember learning of the universe?
It’s impossible infinity
Seeing its depths
And beginnings
Knowing so much, yet so little

Humanity takes its steps
As no one else can
Into its future
Learning again
That we are just a small part
Of the master plan

Coming Home/Breathe

After losing both of my parents in 2020 and 2021 and rearranging my whole life, it’s time to come home to poetry. It was hard to be inspired when things were swirling around me and I could only focus on what was in front of me. My trusty pup Casey remains at my side. Looking forward to the future…

Breathe

The loss was deep
an endless void
It’s time to breathe again…

Go Get It Girl

Things collected
All packed to go
Out through the window
She looked down below
She’d leave in the morning
What else could she do?
She wouldn’t look back
Worse she’d been through
Anywhere but here
She exclaimed with a sigh
I’ll be ok
I’ll be just fine

Morning came
And with it misgivings
Her sleep troubled
Her dreams wouldn’t give in
I’m sticking this out
Improvise on the go
I’m not giving up
It’s time for the show
Resolve in her pocket
& a smile on her face
Go get it girl
Get back in the race

Horns

‪My horns tilt my halo‬
‪Just by a bit‬
‪A little bit naughty‬
‪I have to admit‬
‪You’d better be careful‬
‪I warn you, it’s true‬
‪Undeniably sassy‬
‪My eyes are on you‬
